Policy & Expert Assistance The Center provides hands-on, planning and implementation assistance to a wide range of jurisdictions in areas of reform such as problem-solving courts (e.g., community courts, treatment courts, domestic violence courts), tribal justice, reducing incarceration and the use of fines/fees and reducing crime and violence. The Research department is seeing a Temporary Senior Research Assistant. Reporting to the Director of National Research, the Senior Research Assistant will work collaboratively with members of the research team to complete the ongoing Statewide Evaluation of Georgia’s Drug Treatment Courts. This position includes both quantitative and qualitative data analysis, as well as extensive writing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clean, code, and analyze statewide drug court administrative data provided by the Council of Accountability Court Judges of Georgia (CACJ);
- Create summary descriptive tables based on statewide administrative data;
- Analyze interviews and observe data collected during three case study site visits;
- Identify key areas of interest/discussion to be included in the case study reports (e.g., program eligibility, retention, challenges) and create an outline of the case study report;
- Draft case study report, outlining major themes and findings from interviews, observations, and review of background documentation in the three case study sites;
- Identify key areas of interest/discussion to be included in the statewide survey report (e.g., caseload, staffing, completion rates, treatment options, challenges);
- Identify key grouping strategies for presenting findings from the statewide survery (e.g., by region, jurisdiction size, eligible charge types);
- Finalize descriptive survey tables for the report;
- Draft and/or edit sections of the survey report;
- Edit/provide feedback across reputed company written materials;
- Participate in monthly update calls with GA stakeholders;
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from GA stakeholders; and
- Additional tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree and 3+ year of research experience;
- Understanding of the drug treatment court model;
- Experience working in SPSS or R to clean, code, reputed company, and analyze large administrative data sets (preferably criminal justice data);
- Experience presenting quantitative data for research reports (including for non-research audiences);
- Experience coding and analyzing qualitative interview data; and
- Strong writing skills, including writing for non-research audiences.
Position Type: Part-time temporary working 10-20 hours per week until December 2025. Position Location: Remote. Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00 per hour based on a 35-hour work week and is commensurate with experience.
