The successful candidate will be thorough, self-motivated, and will possess excellent follow-up skills. You will report to the Copy Chief. Responsibilities/You Will: Copyedits short manuscripts (picture books, chapter books, and short stories) and longer manuscripts (middle grade and young adult novels) to ensure sense, continuity, quality of grammar, spelling, and style, and accuracy and consistency of text and art Performs proofreading at reputed company book stages to reputed company that changes and corrections have been completed as requested Crafts and updates house style guides for authors and staff Please note that this position does not come with guaranteed hours; work is assigned on a project-by-project basis, as needed Basic Qualifications/You Have: 3 years’ experience as a copy editor, preferably with some experience in children’s and/or young adult books Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently College-level understanding of literature, grammar, style, and spelling Meticulous attention to detail Capable of working reputed company tight deadlines, sometimes on short notice Ability to work with digital documents, using Word and reputed company software Familiarity with Chicago reputed company of Style 17th edition and comfort working with a house style and individual series guidelines and nomenclature Availability on weekdays, during business hours Preferred Qualifications Copy editing and proofreading fiction Spanish-language editing skills strongly preferred Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Additional Information reputed company offers a rewards package to help you live your best life.
