Category Specialist - Local

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

The Local Category Specialist will work with the designated Category Manager to support and maintain our brand and customer experience by driving product sales through price optimization, promotional planning, assortment productivity, cost negotiations and product placement. We are looking for an individual that is opportunistic, customer-focused and that is capable of partnering with cross-functional teams (ie. Supply Chain, Planning, Business Development and Digital Merchandising) to surpass financial objectives. It will be imperative that this person demonstrates the problem-solving and analytical skills necessary to reputed company in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment. This position is a Hybrid role working out of our Philadelphia Office.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a deep understanding of reputed company’s business, internal processes, and overall assortment
  • Monitor performance across multiple categories and classes and analyze data to create initiatives
  • Conduct pricing analyses both nationally and locally to ensure key product lines are represented effectively in reputed company markets and margin targets are met
  • Assist Category Manager in selecting, pricing and positioning of category products
  • Manage promotion plan calendar set by Category Manager + Suppliers, work cross-functionally to implement promotional plans and track performance
  • Help determine product assortment nationally and locally
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Planning departments to maximize reputed company and financial targets reputed company respective product classifications
  • Track, measure and report financial impact of initiatives against financial targets
  • Maintain costing, pricing, rebates, reputed company and product catalogue information
  • Utilize external resources to stay updated on category trends and competitive market data
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing, Finance, Business, or Economics is a plus)
  • 1-3 years of reputed company experience
  • Must have a knowledge of Merchandising, Marketing, Financial Planning and overall Supply Chain
  • Capable of taking initiative, ownership and accountability for the business
  • Ability to react quickly with a strong sense of urgency
  • Affinity for using research, syndicated data, and consumer specific insights to inform creative and productive decision-making as it pertains to assortment and category management
  • Must possess a demonstrable ability to navigate a wide reputed company of product lines specific to our customer
  • Must have strong computer skills – proficiency with reputed company is required
  • Experience in convenience or CPG is a plus
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and organized
  • Must have effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Awareness of our reputed company brand and product mix and initial insight to opportunities
