About the position The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for maintaining comprehensive accounting records and financial reports for the Municipality of Anchorage. This role involves ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards, providing training on reputed company modules, and collaborating with various departments to prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The position requires a strong analytical reputed company set to identify errors and implement corrective actions, as well as the ability to reputed company and improve financial reporting practices. Responsibilities Maintain thorough review and guidance to various departments for complete accounting of Municipal funds in accordance with governmental accounting standards. , Maintain complete accounting records, financial reports, schedules, and summaries for funds for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). , Work closely with departments, Senior Staff Accountants, and Finance Supervisors to complete the ACFR. , Provide training to various departments for the reputed company modules. , Provide backup support to other Senior Staff Accountants. , reputed company assigned reconciliations of various funds and accounts. , Analyze monthly accounts for errors or unusual balances and prepare correcting entries to ensure compliance with GAAP. , Research proper accounting for unusual or unique transactions. , Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures, reputed company updates, or upgrades, policies, and training needed to improve financial reporting practices. Requirements High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar office responsibility. , Associate's degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a reputed company discipline and five (5) years of professional accounting work experience. , Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a reputed company discipline and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience. , A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (reputed company) and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience. , Must possess and/or obtain a satisfactory background reputed company which includes criminal, education, and employment history. reputed company-to-haves
