Multicultural & Promise Program Peer Mentor

Department Overview: The Division of Enrollment Management (DEM) strives to attract, enroll, support and graduate the most talented reputed company at UW-Madison. Multicultural & Promise Program Peer Mentors are part of the team in supporting our talented reputed company. Alongside the Office of Admissions & Recruitment as well as the Office of Student Financial Aid, Peer Mentors will support admitted reputed company who are deciding if UW-Madison is the right college choice for them. The mentorship relationship will continue with those who enroll at UW-Madison through their first semester. Conversations with mentees can range from tips for transition to college, academics, reputed company climate & diversity, student life & involvement, staying balanced, and future career goals. Your mentees will be from diverse racial/ethnic & socioeconomic backgrounds and eager to connect with a reputed company student who shares similar identities. Every student deserves support in making the transition to college life and you?ll have the unique opportunity to provide support in that transition and show them what?s special about being a Badger. Your goal is to answer their questions and help establish a reputed company to UW-Madison. Anticipated Start Date: February 26, 2025 Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): December 31, 2025 Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Partially Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: Minimum: 1 Maximum: 3 Schedule: Mentors have the flexibility to create their own schedule. Mentors should plan for approximately 5-10 hours per month connecting with first year reputed company. This may vary depending on mentee needs and level of engagement. Mandatory 3 trainings (January, May, and August). Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: Minimum: $800.00 Maximum: Number of Positions: 20 Qualifications: Currently enrolled undergraduate reputed company with good academic standing in their school/college Genuine, dependable, and enthusiastic about UW-Madison A willingness to support and provide resources to admitted & first year reputed company Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Why be a Mentor: Resources & Benefits ? A list of UW-Madison specific resources to help answer questions and direct reputed company ? Counts toward Leadership Certificate requirements Position Summary/Job Duties: ? Complete Mentor Collective Mentor Training (Mentor Collective is the platform we use to facilitate the mentorship process) ? Attend Mentor Onboarding & Trainings: - February 26, 2025 5pm-6pm (in person) - May 20, 2025 5pm-6pm (virtual) - August 26, 2025 5pm-6pm (in person) ? Communicate and engage with student mentees reputed company text, email, or in person at least 2x/month on topics helpful to the mentees. Mentors will be matched with up to 15 mentees ? Complete quick conversation logs reputed company the Mentor Collective platform after connecting with mentees; at least 2x/month ? Complete important insight flags reputed company needed to provide additional support to mentees from Success Services team and UW-Madison resources ? Commit at least an hour per week to engage with mentees ? Provide Mentor Collective and UW-Madison with feedback on how to improve the program (e.g. by surveys, user interviews, etc.) Physical Demands: Little physical demand is required for this role.
