Our mission is simple: “Help audit and finance teams do more with less, without compromising quality” The Role We are seeking a highly motivated Remote Controller to design, optimize, and manage accounting and operational systems for a real estate company engaged in property acquisition, rehabilitation, leasing, property management, and disposition. This role reports directly to the CEO and will work closely with leadership by providing accurate financial reporting and analysis to support operational and investment decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-entity accounting, real estate construction or rehabilitation accounting, and single-family property management, and will be capable of building and maintaining institutional-quality accounting processes. The Controller will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and FP&A, including AP, AR, payroll, bank and credit card reconciliations, cash management, and monthly financial reporting. This role will oversee accounting for property acquisitions, capitalized rehab and turn costs, rental and property management operations, and property sales, optimize the current QuickBooks Online environment, and implement and manage a structured monthly close calendar to ensure timely and accurate reporting. The Controller will also support the evaluation and implementation of accounting and operational systems, including CRMs, and play a key role in planning and executing a future ERP migration from QuickBooks Online to Sage Intacct Key Responsibilities: Enhance and provide accurate GAAP accounting records in Quickbooks Online: Cash/ Bank reconciliations Accounts Payable/ Expenses Treasury and Disbursements Accounts Receivable/ Revenue Payroll, Benefits and Compliance Construction and Margin Accounting Tax returns and Compliance Record invoices and reconcile revenue per US GAAP Process vendor invoices and schedule payments Collect accounts receivable and apply cash receipts Prepare monthly bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations Process payroll, maintain accurate payroll records, tax filings, and benefits deductions Monitor cash flow and prepare periodic cash position reports for management Timely preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to management Liaise with external CPA or tax preparer for quarterly and year-end filings Maintain accurate cost-of-goods-sold and margin reporting Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal accounting controls Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and automate tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) 5+ years of bookkeeping, controllership and systems experience Strong proficiency in Quickbooks Online and BuilderTrend, including report building Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to overlap with U.S. hours (Pacific Time) Key Attributes for Success Communication skills in English, both verbal and written Ability to prioritize, organize, manage time, and work independently to meet deadlines Strong analytical, organizational, attention to detail, problem-solving, and leadership High degree of professionalism and tact in dealing with internal and external partners Must be thorough, thoughtful and able to perform well across various deliverables Perks and Benefits U.S. CPA Exam Support: Reimbursement for prep and fees upon successful completion Professional Development: Training, mentorship, ongoing exposure to U.S. clients Career Growth: Clear career progression with performance-based evaluations Global Exposure: Collaborate with U.S. based companies and/ or clients Location: Remote Apply To This Job
