Position Overview – Remote Data Engineer (CA)

arenaflex is seeking a talented and self‑motivated Remote Data Engineer to join our fast‑growing Data & Analytics team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust ETL pipelines, support data‑warehousing initiatives, and partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver high‑impact analytics solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data & Analytics engineers, product managers, and application engineers to define data requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Design, develop, and optimize end‑to‑end ETL pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, Kafka, and custom Python/SQL scripts.
• Maintain and enhance data‑warehouse schemas in relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Vertica) and support NoSQL solutions where appropriate.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to ensure reliability and accuracy of data flows.
• Produce clear, concise documentation and data lineage diagrams for all pipelines and data models.
• Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or comparable BI tools to surface insights for business partners.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, propose architectural improvements, and drive continuous optimization of data processing workloads.
• Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and sprint planning to align delivery with product roadmaps.

Essential Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related role.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database design (SQL Server, MySQL, Vertica). Exposure to NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work with data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
• Experience writing Kafka producers/consumers and familiarity with streaming data concepts.
