Position Overview

As a Senior Financial Accountant with arenaflex, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining our financial integrity and supporting our mission to deliver exceptional service to our clients. This remote position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members across different locations. You'll be responsible for complex accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance to senior management on financial accounting matters, contributing to strategic decision-making processes
• Perform complex accounting activities including maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and generating administrative reports
• Collect and analyze financial data to support comprehensive financial and operational reporting
• Review data from the general ledger, departmental reports, and various financial systems to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and confirmations, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Analyze initiatives related to financial accounting policies, procedures, and systems
• Execute ongoing financial control functions in accordance with internal control policies and procedures
• Provide practical guidance and training to team members on financial accounting best practices
• Support compliance and risk management requirements through rigorous financial oversight
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout projects and ongoing operations

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Analysis, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting, or Risk Reporting
• Demonstrated expertise through a combination of work experience, education, or relevant training programs
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Independent judgment and creative problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of SEC/Regulatory quarterly reporting experience; familiarity with financial service platforms and systems
• Experience with COSO-based Sarbanes-Oxley internal control assessment implementation
• Military background or analytical experience including operational management, project management, mission development, and financial management
• 1+ year of credit card industry reporting experience; knowledge of corporate/commercial loan products
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• Experience with Big 4/regional public accounting/financial services firms
• Intermediate Essbase/SmartView, advanced Microsoft Excel with VLOOKUP/pivot tables
• Strong knowledge/experience in General Ledger reconciliations and automation tools
• Independent judgment/creative problem-solving to analyze/identify/understand downstream effects in complex matrixed environment
• Knowledge/understanding of US GAAP financial statement preparation with ability to translate/summarize complex data into understandable, meaningful information and recommendations
• Demonstrated understanding of accounting/reporting/internal control issues
• Ability to interpret and summarize complex data into clear, relevant information and recommendations
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) skills
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
