Position Overview

We are seeking a talented, driven, and innovative Machine Learning Data Scientist to join our Cloud Innovations Application Platform (AP) team in Austin, USA. In this pivotal role, you will help design, develop, and execute our comprehensive machine learning strategy, taking our developer experience platform to unprecedented heights while accelerating application development initiatives across arenaflex. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, applying sophisticated algorithms to large-scale datasets to deliver cutting-edge, AI-enabled solutions that make a real impact on how our engineers build the next generation of products.

The Application Platform team at arenaflex provides frameworks, services, and developer tools to internal engineering teams to accelerate their Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). We are actively building a Generative AI-based developer experience platform for internal use, helping our application development teams move faster, write better code, and ship with greater confidence. As a Data Scientist on this team, you will collaborate directly with AI engineers, programmers, and fellow data scientists to deliver and operate end-to-end AI-enabled solutions that transform the way our developers work every single day.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, and deploy production-grade machine learning models and AI-powered solutions that directly enhance developer productivity and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, software developers, product managers, and other data scientists to conceptualize, build, and ship end-to-end AI-enabled features for the developer experience platform.
• Apply advanced machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, statistical modeling, and large language models (LLMs) to solve complex, high-impact business problems.
• Apply transformer architecture, vector embeddings, and modern foundation models to address diverse use cases across search, recommendation, code generation, and intelligent automation.
• Ensure robust data quality through rigorous exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, careful handling of missing values, and comprehensive anomaly detection.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics, validate results, and interpret findings to deliver clear, actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
• Select appropriate ML algorithms for specific problems, train models at scale, and fine-tune hyperparameters to achieve optimal predictive performance.
• Work with foundation models, including techniques such as fine-tuning, retraining, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), to meet custom organizational needs.
• Design and execute experimentation frameworks, including A/B testing, to validate model improvements and measure real business impact.
• Present the results of complex analyses in a clear, meaningful, and compelling manner. Translate modern AI model capabilities into digestible insights for non-technical audiences and executive stakeholders.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and feature stores in close collaboration with data engineering teams.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in AI, ML, and data science research, and evaluate emerging techniques where they provide clear value to the business.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap, mentor junior team members, and help foster a culture of data-driven decision making throughout arenaflex.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in the software industry with a focus on machine learning, data science, or applied AI.
• Programming: Highly proficient in quantitative programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Data Infrastructure: Experience working with distributed storage systems such as S3, Flash, and Vector Databases.
• ML Fundamentals: Strong understanding of and practical experience with advanced machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, statistics, and large language models.
• Modern AI: Solid understanding of transformer architecture, vector embeddings, and the practical application of models to solve diverse business problems.
• Deployment: Experience with model deployment, experimentation frameworks, and production ML systems.
• Communication: Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience applying ML techniques specifically to developer productivity, code analysis, or software engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI, foundation model fine-tuning, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and modern MLOps practices.
• Publications, patents, or open-source contributions in the AI or ML research community.
• Experience mentoring junior data scientists or leading small technical projects.
• Familiarity with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, or similar tools.
