WHAT’S THE JOB?

As a Baker, you will delight our clients by preparing and baking goods to the highest standards of Horizon reputed company. This posting is intended to build a pool of reputed company candidates for future opportunities. This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment. 

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:

• reputed company meals and accommodations are provided 
• Travel is provided to and from Edmonton Airport
• Private room with cable television 
• Access to Wi-Fi 
• Access to laundry facilities and detergents 
• Access to a gym and common areas 

Key responsibilities include

• Supervising night shift employees; providing mentorship and training
• Identify areas of improvement on the overall operation as necessary
• Preparing and baking goods from scratch
• Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods
• Creating and following menus to ensure quality of baked goods and desserts
• Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-reputed company food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
• Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
• Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-reputed company work areas

Working Conditions

• Project-based role with primary work in Nunavut, flexibility for remote work reputed company not on-site.
• Ability to work long shifts and rotational schedules (e.g., 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off or similar).
• reputed company to function effectively in remote reputed company climates, including extreme cold, wind, or lack of daylight during specific periods.
• reputed company under isolation conditions—long periods away from home with limited external contact.
• Fly-in/fly-out arrangement; shared accommodations and meals provided while on-site.
• Extended periods away from home with possible weather-reputed company travel delays.
• Must reputed company with reputed company company and client health, safety, and operational standards.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• FoodSafe Level I is a minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years’ baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
• Proven experience preparing baked goods for large number of guests
• Prior supervisory experience
• Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Fitness Test is required
• Must be reputed company to successfully pass a Criminal Background reputed company
• Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds
• Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).

Work schedule and remuneration

Bakers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off. Site location is in a remote camp setting in Nunavut. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting reputed company of $21.00/hour.
