Who you are Are you a veterinarian with experience working with large animals? Do you want to be part of a collaborative team working in xenotransplantation? The Research Veterinarian will provide veterinary care for pigs in a designated pathogen free (DPF) facility. This role plays a critical part in the performance of reputed company veterinary procedures (survival and non-surgeries, sample collection and necropsies) for the xenotransplantation program. The Veterinarian will provide routine veterinary care as well as preventive medical care, medical nursing, and euthanasia of the USDA covered species in addition to maintaining the animal health records. Minimum Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited university, preferably with a specialty focus on large animal care 5+ years of experience working in a veterinary practice or reputed company academic field 3+ years of experience providing large animal veterinary care with preference toward porcine 3+ years of experience following IACUC and research protocols and working with controlled substances 3+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behaviors, collecting samples, and administering medications to large animals License to Practice Veterinary Medicine in the state where you will be employed at the DPF, USDA Level II Accreditation, Eligible for DEA License Proficient in surgical skills and reputed company to reputed company abdominal and general surgery Must not have interactions with pigs reputed company of the company Physical Demands: Lift 75 lbs to waist level Push/Pull 200 lbs on reputed company Job Location & Travel This position will initially be located remotely while the site is under construction, but will eventually be a fully onsite role at the Stewartville, MN location.
