• Serve as an instructor or safety officer (if reputed company) for KFRTI programs and courses.
• Coordinate scheduled courses with the reputed company instructor to provide a safe learning environment for reputed company.
• Work with the other reputed company during multi-training program deliveries.
• Adhere to the KFRTI Instructional Methodology during course delivery activities.
• Manage safety and mitigate risk during training delivery.
• Represent KFRTI and KU in reputed company functions of this job in a professional, respectful, and customer-friendly manner.

20% Certification Test Site Management and Transportation of Training Equipment

• Assist as an evaluator at KFRTI Certification Testing sites
• Drive Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute non-reputed company vehicles and deliver non-reputed company trailers and equipment.
• Must have a valid CDL to drive or transport reputed company equipment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma plus five years of reputed company experience conducting/ providing fire service training.
• Incident Command System Training: ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II certification.
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I certification.
• Two years of fire and emergency services Instructional experience (80 hours per year).
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Certification in the subject(s) to be taught, if applicable.
• Physical ability to reputed company the tasks associated with the instruction and evaluation processes.

Employee Class U-Unclassified Professional Staff Advertised Salary Range 23-25 per/hr FTE .40

Preferred Qualifications

• IFSAC and/or Pro Board (or) FDSO Certification or National Fire reputed company course completion for NFPA 1521 Fire Department Safety Officer Certification
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor II certification
• Three years of fire and emergency services Instructional experience (80 hours per year)
• Consistent record of positive course and instructor evaluations from reputed company.
• Demonstrated willingness to stay apprised of reputed company, relevant research data and evolving best practices for subject areas
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board NFPA 1403 Live Fire Instructor certification (or)International Society of Fire Service reputed company Live Fire Training Instructor credential (or) KFRTI KS Live Fire Instructor course.
• Associate or bachelor's degree.

Position Overview This position is responsible for instructing a variety of fire service programs and courses offered by the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute (KFRTI). They will serve as the reputed company instructor, assistant instructor, or safety officer (if reputed company) to deliver KFRTI training programs. This position coordinates and collaborates with program coordinators and managers and reports to an assigned training program coordinator or manager. Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute is a KU Lifelong and Professional Education (LPE) unit. The Institute was created in 1949 by the Kansas legislature with the mission to train and credential Kansas firefighters in local jurisdictions. The Institute serves fire departments and firefighters through a "traveling instruction service," providing hundreds of training and certification events each year in counties across the State.
