Position Summary

We are seeking to establish a pool of part-time lecturers to teach in the Department of Languages and Cultures during the 2023-24 academic year. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in teaching languages and cultures, with a focus on Spanish for professional purposes. The department offers a range of programs, including majors and minors in Spanish, German, French, Asian Studies, and Latin American Studies, as well as a Master of Arts in Language Teaching and a Graduate TESOL Certificate.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach reputed company and upper division undergraduate courses and some graduate courses in languages and cultures

• Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the department's programs

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• A Master of Arts in a reputed company field for undergraduate courses or a PhD in second language acquisition, applied linguistics, or a reputed company field for graduate courses
• Advanced proficiency in the language to be taught (for language teaching positions)
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use communicative teaching methodologies (for language teaching positions)

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, with most new lecturers being hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. The salary ranges are as follows:

• Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per month
• Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per month
• Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 - $13,172 per month
• Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 - $13,797 per month
